Aciclovir Eye Ointment 3%

Overview

Aciclovir Eye Ointment 3% is an ophthalmic antiviral preparation used for the treatment of herpes simplex virus (HSV) infections of the eye, including herpes simplex keratitis (dendritic ulcers of the cornea). It works by inhibiting viral DNA synthesis, thereby stopping the replication of the herpes virus in ocular tissues.

It is applied directly into the conjunctival sac of the affected eye, usually 5 times daily, and continued until complete healing occurs, plus a few additional days to prevent relapse.
